Sausage, Peppers & Onion Pizza


Sicilian Pizza Dough Recipe

2 tablespoons olive oil
4 cloves garlic, chopped
4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
2 ozs of sliced button mushrooms.
1 small green bell pepper sliced
1 small sweet red pepper sliced
1 small sweet onion sliced
1 or 2 Italian sausage ( spicy or sweet ) links sliced into 1/4 inch rounds
1 teaspoon dried oregano
freshly ground black pepper

Heat the oven to 450°F. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin or use your hands to pat the dough into a circle
about 12" to 14" across and 1/4"-thick. Place the dough on an oiled round baking sheet.

In a heated fry pan with a little olive oil, fry the sausage slices until browned on each side. Remove and set aside.

In the same pan fry the peppers, sauté the peppers, onions and mushrooms with a pinch of salt for 5 minutes until
they are slightly  caramelized. Remove and set aside.

Spread the olive oil over the rolled dough and sprinkle the garlic and herbs on top into the oil. Spread the
mozzarella cheese leaving the edge of the pizza free. Spread the vegetables on top of the cheese and then the

Bake until nicely browned and crispy, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Cut the pizza into 8 slices.

Inn Tip*

Before slicing the sausage, place the links in the freezer for 1/2 an hour. This will help stiffen them for slicing
without ruining the casing.
