Congratulations to Deanna from Canton, Georgia for her recipe for a "Crock Pot Gumbo".

This dish was chosen because a lot of you out there have been asking for more slow
cooker recipes and this one is just what the doctor ordered. All things fresh and easy to
come by. With everyone having more to do with less time to do it in, slow cooking has
become a phenomena with sales of slow cookers into the millions every year. So dust
yours off and try this recipe this week and once again we thank Deanna for sending in her
recipe for us to enjoy.





INGREDIENTS

2 cups fresh okra, sliced into 1/2 inch pieces
4 cobs fresh corn, kernels cut off
1 onion, chopped
1 cup fresh butter beans or field peas
1 zucchini, chopped
2 summer squash, chopped
3 tomatoes, chopped
1 can rotel tomatoes
2 cups chicken broth
1 kielbasa, sliced (shrimp or chicken could also be added)
2 tbsp Cajun seasoning

Put all items in crock pot, add water if needed until veggies are covered.
Cook on low 8 hrs. Serve with rice, hot sauce and cornbread.

Inn Tip: If at all possible, try browning the meat a little before putting it in the slow cooker. This will help
keep the meat stay firm while adding some flavor to the gumbo from the browning process.
